Common Names: Long-spine thornapple

Plant Form: Large annual herb. Size: Up to 1.5 m tall. Stem: Forking repeatedly, hairy. Leaves: Egg-shaped to triangular in outline, up to 16 cm long, with shallow lobes and toothed edges. Flowers: White, 4-6 cm long, trumpet-shaped. Fruit and Seeds: Capsule up to 4 cm long, erect, covered in large, irregular spines, releasing blackish, kidney-shaped, wrinkled seeds. Habitat: Waste grounds, disturbed areas, riparian areas. Distinguishing Features: Spines on the capsule more irregular and flowers shorter than in Common thornapple (Datura stramonium).
