Moorochloa eruciformis

Common Names: Sweet summer grass

Plant Form: Annual grass. Size: Up to 60 cm tall. Stem: Dense clusters of long, slender stems, with slightly hairy segments rooting at hollow lower nodes. Leaves: Blades are elongated lance-shaped, flat and slightly hairy, up to 7 cm long. Flowers: Oblong or elongated oval-shaped spike 5-7 cm long on a short stalk, with slightly hairy spikelets. Fruit and Seeds: Spikelets oval-shaped to slightly lance-shaped, about 2.5 mm long. Habitat: Grasslands, disturbed areas, waste land, pastures. Distinguishing Features: Differs from grasses in the closely related Urochloa genus as it has spikelets on one side rather than two opposite sides.
