Common Names: Barley grass

Plant Form: Annual grass. Size: Up to 60 cm tall. Leaves: Light green blades 2-20 cm long, flat, slightly hairy, with smooth edges and straight point. Flowers: Green compact cylindrical spike, partly enclosed by a single leaf. Fruit and Seeds: Spikelets green with long awn, tightly compacted in spike. With cylindrical seeds in groups of 3. Habitat: Pastures, grasslands, lawns. Distinguishing Features: Extremely similar to Barley grass (Hordeum leporinum).
