Hibiscus trionum

Common Names: Bladder ketmia

Plant Form: Spreading to erect annual herb. Size: Up to 70 cm tall. Stem: Branched at base making several upright woody stems. Leaves: Divided into 3 or sometimes 5 or 7 segments, 2-8 cm long, very variable in shape, on bristly stalks. Flowers: Cream, yellow or pinkish with 5 petals. Reddish or purplish centre. Solitary in the leaf stalk joins, on bristly stalks. Fruit and Seeds: Oval to spherical with bristles. Drying out with age and splitting to release numerous seeds. Habitat: Croplands, wasteland, disturbed areas, old gardens. Distinguishing Features: Generally shorter and less erect than other Hibiscuses (Hibiscus species).
