Common Names: Great Bindweed
Plant Form: Perennial climber. Size: Climbing up to 4 m over supporting vegetation. Stem: Narrow, twining. Leaves: Arrowhead-shaped 4-10 cm long. Flowers: Solitary, white or pink-tinged, 4-6 cm long and trumpet shaped. With two bracts clasping the base. Fruit and Seeds: Capsule oval shaped to almost circular, up to 8 mm across with black seeds. Habitat: This is a native plant to southeastern Australia. It inhabits riparian areas, wet forests, waste areas. Distinguishing Features: Non-native Giant bindweed (Calystegia silvatica) is generally larger and has much larger bracts at the base of the flower. Impacts: Note - this is a native plant.
