Common Names: Stinkwort

Plant Form: Annual many-branched herb. Size: Up to 1.2 m tall, usually 30-60 cm. Stem: Many-branched, with hairs and oil glands. Leaves: Lance-shaped, up to 7 cm long in a rosette at base, stem leaves are smaller, hairy and with small round glands. Flowers: In heads with yellow daisy-like flowers. Strap-like petals. Fruit and Seeds: Capsule like, hairy, sometimes with glands. Habitat: Overgrazed pastures, disturbed areas, river flats, bare ground. Distinguishing Features: Strong smell, glands on stems and leaves. Impacts: Causes persistent dermatitis, unpalatable, taints meat and milk.
