Common Names: Fat-hen

Plant Form: Erect annual herb. Size: Up to 2.5 m tall. Stem: Erect, branching towards top, smooth and hairless, often with reddish or green streaking. Leaves: Alternately arranged, oval to almost diamond shaped with variable toothed edges, becoming linear higher up. Often covered with a whitish powdery or floury substance, particularly underneath. Flowers: Greyish or greenish, and clustered and fused together. Sometimes with reddish appearance. Fruit and Seeds: Black smooth seeds with papery covering. Habitat: Disturbed areas, pastures, cropping areas, bare ground, urban bushland.
