Tamarix parviflora

Common Names: Tamarisk

Plant Form: Small tree. Size: Up to 6 m tall. Stem: Spreading, branching.With brown to deep purple hairless bark. Leaves: Greyish-green scale leaves which cover stems and exude salt. Flowers: Tiny, very numerous pale pink, along dense spikes. Fruit and Seeds: Hundreds of seeds contained within the old flower parts. Habitat: Roadsides, pastures, grasslands, riparian areas, wetlands, arid areas, coastal scrub. Distinguishing Features: Smaller than Athel pine (Tamarix aphylla) and has shorter and more dense flower clusters than Saltcedar (Tamarix ramosissima)
