Common Names: Karamu
Plant Form: Large shrub or small tree. Size: Up to 6 m tall. Stem: Pale brown becoming darker and woody with age. Leaves: In opposite pairs, leathery, thick, 5-12 cm long, and glossy on top. With a pointed tip and very fine teeth along edges. Flowers: Greenish, in clusters at leaf bases. Fruit and Seeds: Fleshy oval-shaped berries up to 1 cm long. Green when young maturing to orange-red. Habitat: Tall open forests, tea tree scrub. Distinguishing Features: Very fine teeth along leaf edges distinguish from other Coprosma species.
