Flowers: Green compact cylindrical spike, partly enclosed by a single leaf. Fruit and Seeds: Spikelets green with long awn, tightly compacted in spike. With cylindrical seeds in groups of 3. Habitat: Pastures, grasslands, lawns. Distinguishing Features: Extremely similar to Barley grass (Hordeum leporinum).
