Casuarina obesa

Common Names: Swamp oak

Plant Form: Medium tree. Size: Up to 15 m tall. Stem: Very rough, corky bark. Leaves: Typical Sheoak (Casuarinaceae), tiny leaves form rings around long thin drooping branchlets in segments. Flowers: Small, in dense groupings at the end of branches. Fruit and Seeds: Clustered in a cone 1-2 cm long. Habitat: Bushland, wetlands, riparian areas. Distinguishing Features: Very hard to distinguish from other Sheoaks (Casuarinaceae) and can hybridise.
