Common Names: Austrocylindropuntia cacti

Plant Form: Large succulent shrubs. Size: Up to 3 m tall. Stem: Green, cylindrical segments with short spines. Leaves: Linear. Quickly dropped. Flowers: Large red or pink flowers at the end of branches. Fruit and Seeds: Green, egg-shaped. Habitat: Inland arid shrubland, bare ground, coastal. Distinguishing Features: Differ from Cylindropuntia species in lacking papery sheaths on their spines.
