Myagrum perfoliatum

Common Names: Muskweed

Plant Form: Erect annual herb. Size: Up to 1 m tall. Stem: Hairless, bluish green. Leaves: Bluish green, elongated lance-shaped to arrow-shaped, with opposite lobes and toothed edges. Upper leaves smaller and clasping stem. Flowers: Large grouping of tiny yellow flowers with four yellow petals surrounding. Fruit and Seeds: Club shaped 6-8 mm long on stalk, with ridges and warty appearance, divided into 3 chambers with only the lower chamber containing a single seed. Habitat: Exposed areas, bare ground. Distinguishing Features: Very difficult to distinguish from numerous other Brassicaceae species. Impacts: Competes with crops reducing yield, host to significant plant diseases.
