Common Names: Matricaria/Globe chamomile
Plant Form: Erect to ascending annual herb. Size: Up to 70 cm tall. Stem: Usually branched. Leaves: Alternate, finely twice-dissected, up to 2cm long, grey-greenish. Flowers: Yellow button daisy-like, nearly globular flowerheads 5-8 mm across. Ray florets are absent. Fruit and Seeds: Wedge-shaped, 1 mm long, ribbed and pimply, with tiny scales at the top. Habitat: Salt lakes, disturbed sites, agricultural land. Distinguishing Features: Differs from Calomba daisy (Oncosiphon suffruticosum) in having smaller leaves and fewer flowerheads, and from Lavender-cotton (Santolina chamaecyparissus) in being herbaceous.
