Common Names: Giant arrowhead

Plant Form: Emergent aquatic herb. Size: Up to 1 m high. Stem: Erect flowering stems up to 75 cm long. Leaves: Submerged leaves are translucent and strap-like, emergent leaves are broad, arrow-head shaped 25 cm long. Flowers: White, with 3 petals, sometimes with purple patch in centre. About 2.5 cm wide in whorls of 3. Fruit and Seeds: Clusters about 2 cm wide with 1-seeded segments. Seeds are flattened, winged and 2-3 mm long. Habitat: Rivers, streams, marshes, garden ponds, drainage ditches, irrigation areas. Distinguishing Features: Large arrow-head shaped emergent leaves distinguish from other emergent aquatic plants.
